Homelessness is an issue that affects all of us. People without a stable, safe place to call home have a harder time finding and keeping a job. Our emergency medical services incur greater costs attending to their needs – particularly in crisis situations. Many businesses become intertwined with the issue when vulnerable persons seek safe haven in their space.
As part of Housing Month, we’re hosting an event on November 16, Ending Homelessness and Your Business. At this event, guests will hear about the work to end homelessness, from Homeward Trust, leaders on youth homelessness and the national 20,000 Homes Campaign, as well as representatives from the Shaw Conference Centre and Century 21 Realty, who will talk about why helping end homelessness is important not just to individuals, but to businesses too.
Speakers: Susan McGee, Homeward Trust; Michael Phair, Youth Homelessness; Lisanne Lewis, Shaw Conference Centre; Tim Richter, Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness; John Stobbe, Century21 Realty.
Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at endinghomelessnessandbusiness.eventbrite.ca.
