Cities at the Centre: The National Poverty Reduction Summit

Over 45 Canadian cities and community leaders gathered in Ottawa May 6 to 8 at the National Poverty Reduction Summit hosted by Tamarack.  The EndPoverty Edmonton task force, City staff and Edmonton community leaders were a strong presence- there to share our accomplishments to date and to learn from others.

Mayor Don Iveson delivered a strong speech about Edmonton's work to end poverty at the opening morning session called Reducing Poverty Together: every City, Province and Territoray. He joined the Hon. Deb Matthews, Ontario's Deputy Premier and Minister Responsible for Poverty Reduction Strategy.
