We are one week away from launching our EndPovertyEdmonton strategy. It will be a bold plan that will need collaboration from all sectors, in order to reach the goal of ending poverty within a generation. This fall we will be engaging Edmontonians on how they see themselves in this plan and to gain specific feedback around the established priorities.
What you may or may not know is that Edmonton is part of a growing number of municipalities and provinces that are taking action to address poverty in their communities. Across Canada, the Tamarack Institute has been bringing cities together through Vibrant Communities Canada to collectively learn from one another on how take targeted approaches to addressing poverty. Here in Alberta, Vibrant Calgary has already released their Enough for All strategy and the Province of Alberta has also developed their own poverty reduction strategy. With these collective efforts across Canada, the goal is for all Canadians to be able to live a life free from poverty.
EndPovertyEdmonton is excited to share our home grown ideas in how we can eliminate poverty. But we will need your help. Be a part in shaping Edmonton’s history, be a part ending poverty here in our community.
