EndPovertyEdmonton welcomes new Communications Officer

If it isn’t about the people, then it isn’t interesting to Andrea, EndPovertyEdmonton’s new Communications Officer. For over thirty years, Andrea has called Edmonton home and she can’t imagine changing that. For her, the communities and the people in Edmonton are unique, offering something that just isn’t the same anywhere else.

Throughout a cross-sector career that started in training software development, worked its way through fundraising events management and into communications and marketing, with side hustles venturing into the visual arts and food, Andrea has always been in it for the people. The people she works for, the people she works with, and the people that benefit from the work (whatever label they go by—student, attendee, customer, reader, visitor, contributor...)

She loves seeing people dream of a better tomorrow and then helping them figure out who to talk to and what to say to help them get there. Through her explorations of relationships and what makes people do what they do, Andrea has long been invested in bettering our social fabric through motivation, understanding, education, and advocacy.

Andrea brings with her education in technology, digital and traditional arts, and professional writing. Her training has come alive over 15-plus years of experience in brand strategy, story-telling, corporate communications, events planning, and collaborative leadership. She’s been proud to work for a diverse group ranging from provincial not-for-profits, to national organizations, to international marketing agencies.

She looks forward to telling the EndPovertyEdmonton story and the stories of those it seeks to serve.
