Initiative Name:
RIDE TRANSIT PROGRAM PILOT

Initiative Lead Organization:
CITY OF EDMONTON OPERATIONS - EDMONTON TRANSIT SERVICE (ETS)

The Ride Transit Program allows eligible low-income Edmontonians to purchase youth or adult monthly transit passes at a subsidized rate of $35. This pilot program was launched in September 2017, with shared costs between the City of Edmonton and the Government of Alberta. The pilot will conclude in late 2018.

Evaluation of the Ride Transit Program is currently in progress. A request to extend the implementation of this program may be made after the evaluation is complete.

To date, approximately 11,000 passes have been sold in the month of June, of which 10-13% are youth passes.

“[Ride Transit] enables me to have better job opportunities rather than ones in my walking radius."  - Ride Transit Program user
