Initiative Name:
A POVERTY IMPACT ASSESSMENT FOR THE CITY OF EDMONTON

Initiative Lead Organization:
CITY OF EDMONTON - CITIZEN SERVICES SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT

A Corporate Poverty Elimination Steering Committee was formed in 2017 composed of representatives from different departments of the City. This Committee meets regularly to coordinate progress of all City-led EPE Road Map actions and incorporate a poverty elimination perspective in their work.

To date, several City Council Reports and City-wide initiatives have been reviewed in terms of how these policies and initiatives will affect people living with poverty and how they contribute to ending poverty. Some examples include the Transit Strategy, RECOVER, GBA+, Living Wage Policy and Smart Cities Challenge.

A poverty impact assessment process is being explored to assess and investigate how City policies, programs and services are impacting people living with or at risk of poverty.
